State Of The Business

Dear Valued Customers, Suppliers, and Friends:

As the 2023 Holiday season ends, we wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued partnership with Extreme Molding! In the spirit of the upcoming season, we have some exciting news and updates to share with you:

New Location

Extreme Molding new locationAs you are already aware, Extreme Molding has completed its first-ever (and hopefully only 🙂) company move from the Watervliet Arsenal to our new location just 1.5 miles down the road! For the first time in nearly a decade, we are all under one roof again!!

We have been in our new facility for more than 6 months now and the increased floor space has provided opportunities to streamline our operations with improved quality. The move was completed under budget, ahead of time, with no injuries, and no shipping delays to our customers.

Operational Improvements

In a few short months, our already highly skilled team of Operations Manager, Mike Wert, and Customer Service Manager, Dana Nugent, have become a stronger tandem on the floor. With their ability to collaborate more seamlessly than ever before – we are already seeing improvements throughout the facility from manufacturing to shipping.

Pete Gardiner, our Controller, will also tell you that he is a much happier individual now that he can count and double check inventory all in the same building! (When Pete is happy – we’re happy!)

Improved Customer Service

leroy_catherineWith the new and improved space primed for growth, we have made two key hires for our Sales and Customer Service departments. New Director of Business Development, Leroy Robinson, brings decades of experience to the Sales team and New Product Introduction Engineer, Catherine Almonte, is responsible for onboarding new product lines seamlessly into our existing operations. Catherine and Leroy are excited to hear from you and are committed serve your needs at a higher level than ever before!

On the Road!  With increased investment into staffing, comes great opportunities and capabilities outside of the facility as well. This year alone, our customer service team has travelled 10,000 miles more than in 2022 and we intend to continue to increase our footprint by attending trade shows, speaking at industry related conferences, and also visiting our valued partners and customers.

Community Initiatives

An additional benefit to moving has been our improved accessibility for anyone who’d like to visit. Gone is the era of waiting days and weeks for visitation approvals! In the upcoming months, we have scheduled tours for local high school students to keep the younger generation interested and excited about the future of manufacturing and the importance of “Made in the USA”.

Additionally, we’ve begun partnering with a silicone recycling company who is helping us reduce silicone waste that goes to landfills. The company will pick up all silicone waste and start the process of converting the silicone into lubricants and oils that will be used in various industrial processes.

Quality Assurance Improvements

In October of this year, Extreme Molding also received its formal recertification for ISO 9001:2015 with flying colors. As part of our strategic growth plan, Extreme Molding has also begun the process of obtaining ISO 13485:2016 certification to produce medical devices. With John Flynn (resident Santa) at the helm, we have confidence that we will be able to make the necessary improvements to achieve ISO 13485 certification in Q4 2024.

Additionally, now that Extreme Molding’s manufacturing floor is temperature controlled, it provides us with more predictive and repeatable process controls than ever before. Our Manufacturing Engineers, Ben Binyamin and Stephen Wilson, are not only happy to not have to work another Arsenal summer on the plant floor, but they also continue to use their talents to improve process stability, decrease scrap, and boost employee morale with more consistent processes.

We look forward to an exciting year ahead shared with all of you in 2024 and would like to have you all visit soon! (P.S. if you happen to make a trip during the summer months, Ben will be sure to share some of his tomatoes from the new raised garden that we have onsite!)

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!  Here’s to a strong 2024!!
